Tinnitus is a medical condition most usually typified by ringing or buzzing in the ears. These sounds can range from barely noticable to life altering so it is best to know how to prevent tinnitus before it becomes an issue, and to know how to deal with it if it does affect you. Knowing the options in tinnitus cures will also be important as well. There is not one set method of tinnitus cures that will work for everybody, and there will be the occasional case that will not find relief no wonder what is tried. As with any medical condition, speak to your doctor for an evaluation and to rule out other organic causes of tinnitus before trying any home remedies. Because tinnitus can lead to hearing loss, a baseline hearing test must be done and monitored to assure that your condition is not worsening with time.
Because stress can make the condition worse, some tinnitus cures will include relaxation techniqes as well as antianxiety and antidepressants. Using a masker, which is similar in appearance to a hearing aid may be helpful in dealing with the annoying sounds of tinnitus. If you are bothered by tinnitus during hours of sleep only, then consider a fan, a radio or a white noise machine. Some patients do well with biofeedback, while others do not respond at all.
In addition to avoiding stress, avoid excessive caffiene and large amounts of aspirin and aspirin products. There are some homeopathic remedies available but these focus on stress reduction as well. Tinnitus can worsen over time, and can also cause serious issues with hearing, so make sure that you are vigilantly protecting your hearing. Avoid loud and repititious noise when possible, and protect your hearing with ear plugs or headphones if you cannot. Stress is a daily part of life, that is not ever going to change, but you can change how you deal with it, not only as a tinnitus cure, but for the good of your entire health.
Talking to your doctor about methods for dealing with your tinnitus is an important place to start, but there are other places to turn to for further information and assistance. Do your own research. You know what sort of thing will and will not work for you. Of course, include your doctor in your plans, but do not think that you have to accept what he tells you right off- you have other options that you can explore and your doctor should be open to exploring them with you. Do not think that you are dealing with your tinnitus alone, you have support that you can reach out to for strength. Education can be very helpful, and may actually save you from some of the stress of not knowing what is going on in your own body or how to handle it.
